Privacy / visitor information
Privacy notice.
This notice explains what this Indianapolis Zoo visitor information site receives when you use the contact form or support chat, when technical records are made, and how advertising identifiers are handled. It is written for a person deciding whether to ask about tickets, hours or a visit.
Effective date: 2026-09-29
Scope and date
Effective date.
This notice took effect on 2026-09-29. It covers indianapoliszoo.us and the inquiry and chat functions linked from it. It does not turn a visit inquiry into a reservation, account or purchase.
Who operates the site
Controller.
Indianapoliszoo, trading at indianapoliszoo.us, operates this site from 1200 WEST WASHINGTON STREET, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46222 4552, INDIANAPOLIS, IN, United States. The site provides visitor information for Indianapolis Zoo questions, including the Indianapolis Zoo address and date-specific enquiries.
Information received
Data collected.
The inquiry form writes your name, phone, email, address, kind of enquiry, message, requested specification and consent tick. With it, the service automatically receives the IP address, browser user-agent string, referring URL, the moment the form was rendered and the moment it was sent. A paid click can also carry the advertising identifiers gclid, msclkid or fbclid.
The support chat keeps the conversation and a token in the visitor's browser so the conversation can be returned to. The consent choice is stored in the browser under site_consent_v2. Technical request data and server records can show how a page was requested. There is no account, password, payment or card data. Nothing is sold on this site and no payment is taken.
Why those records are used
Purposes.
Inquiry details are used to read and route a visitor question about an Indianapolis Zoo visit, tickets, admission, opening hours or contact details. Contact information is used to communicate about that question. Chat content and its token keep the support conversation usable when you return.
Technical records support security, abuse prevention, fault finding and operation. Consent records remember the choice made for optional storage. Advertising identifiers are used to understand a paid click and, after permission, to support advertising measurement and related advertising functions. The site receives paid clicks today from Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and Meta Ads.
Lawful grounds
Legal bases.
Consent is the basis for optional analytics and advertising storage, including the consent signals described below. A request for information is handled on the basis of taking steps at your request and, where applicable, a contract-related basis. Security, fraud prevention, service operation and records needed to answer a question rely on legitimate interest where that basis applies. Local law can change which basis is available; withdrawing optional consent does not undo processing already carried out lawfully.
Paid traffic identifiers
Ad platforms.
google ads sends traffic here and can attach gclid to a click. microsoft advertising sends traffic here and can attach msclkid. Meta Ads sends traffic here and can attach fbclid. These identifiers connect a visit with an advertising click. They are not payment details.
Consent Mode v2
Consent mode.
The consent mode settings in Consent Mode v2 hold ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization and analytics_storage denied until the visitor allows storage. If the visitor declines or withdraws, all four are set back to denied at once. Denied storage does not mean that no network request or no tag can be loaded; it controls the consent signals and optional storage decisions. The consent choice is not preselected. Optional advertising identifiers are not stored before permission. Necessary security storage and the support-session token serve the request you make; they are separate from analytics and advertising storage. Use Manage storage choices in the footer to withdraw permission. Declining optional storage does not prevent an inquiry.
Recipients and service providers
Processors.
Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC receives relevant Google Ads signals. Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd receives relevant Microsoft Advertising signals. Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd receives relevant Meta Ads signals where a campaign runs there. The hosting provider serves this site and stores the enquiry database. The mail provider carries an inquiry notification to the operator's inbox.
Microsoft publishes its own statement at privacy.microsoft.com. Google publishes its privacy statement, and Meta publishes its privacy policy. They are named here as recipients, not as reviewers or approvers of this site.
Transfers
International transfers.
The hosting, mail and advertising providers may process information outside the country where it was collected. Where a transfer occurs, it is made under the provider's applicable contractual safeguards, adequacy mechanism or other lawful transfer method, as available for the relevant processing. Ask at [email protected] for the information applicable to your request.
Retention periods
Retention.
Enquiries and their email copies are kept for 24 months. Chat transcripts are kept for 12 months. Server and access logs are kept for 90 days. The record of a consent choice is kept for 12 months. A data request is answered within 7 days; the request record is then held only as long as needed to document handling and meet a legal obligation.
| Record | Period |
|---|---|
| Enquiries and email copies | 24 months |
| Chat transcripts | 12 months |
| Server and access logs | 90 days |
| Consent choice | 12 months |
Security in use
Security.
Access is limited to the systems and people needed to operate the inquiry route. The site uses server-side submission handling, ordinary access controls, transport protections and honeypot fields against automated abuse. No internet transmission is risk-free, so do not send payment details, passwords or identity documents in a visitor question.
Rights for European visitors
gdpr.
For visitors reached from Europe, the GDPR rights described here are access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection and withdrawing consent. These rights are subject to the conditions and exceptions in the law that applies to the request. Withdrawing consent affects future optional processing; it does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful.
United States state rights
ccpa.
California residents may have rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including knowing about personal information collected and disclosed, accessing it, correcting it, deleting it where applicable, and opting out of sale or sharing. This site does not sell personal information. Other US state privacy laws in force can provide similar rights, subject to their limits and definitions.
A browser opt-out signal
Global privacy control.
global privacy control is honoured as an opt-out through the Sec-GPC header without asking again. That signal is treated as a choice against optional advertising sharing and storage. You can also use the storage controls in the footer to change your choice.
Children
Children's data.
This site is not for children and takes no data from children. Do not submit a child's name, contact information or private circumstances through the inquiry form or chat. An adult can ask a general visitor question without identifying a child.
Complaints
Complaints.
You may complain to your state Attorney General. In California, you may complain to the California Privacy Protection Agency. Visitors in Europe may complain to a data protection authority in the country where they live, work or believe an infringement occurred.
Make a data request
Data request.
Use the data request form or write to [email protected] with the request type, such as access, correction, deletion or a consent-related request, and enough context to locate it. Send correspondence to 1200 WEST WASHINGTON STREET, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46222 4552. We answer a data request within 7 days. We may ask for proportionate information to verify the request; do not send identity documents in the initial email.
